A careless nose scratch by crewman Joe Tormolen brings whatever infected the scientists back to the ship. Everyone starts acting drunk and overly emotional. Sulu gets into shirtless fencing, Nurse Chapel confesses her love for Spock, and Riley locks himself in engineering to sing Irish ballads.
